UNDER the JC

A long-awaited adventure was touring the underside of the JC. Our hosting video said that the JC: "rests on 400 pylons driven into the bedrock." Thus, it almost "floats" in the air without touching the ground -- except through those pylons.  On Tuesday 9/13/11 (one year after arriving), we got to check it out.  Our entry was through a locked door next to the 6th floor elevator.
Everyone donned hard hats -- to prevent head wounds. Eran Hayet (JC Executive Director, above) led tall Thomas Kelley and our group down the JC hillside to Level 1.
Eran explained the extensive pipes, wires & other systems serving the JC. Many were low-hanging, requiring much stooping & bending.
These are a few of the 400 pylons (reinforced concrete) supporting the JC. Most areas were very well-lighted. Most of the ground was covered with cement.
We worked our way back up to Level 6, to exit where we began -- but on the opposite side, through a door in the Green Room (where JC concert artists wait).
This adventure was well worth the wait.

More Hidden Space.  One more adventure was discovering what lay inside the curved parking driveway wall, beneath the front entry.
It was a huge space for all the JC's electronic & mechanical equipment, paint gear and storage.   The MorCo. that built the JC also had its main offices there.    We had no idea!
